OUR STORY

We are the Presbyterian Church of Ghana in Frankfurt;  a church with a goal to offer a place of worship and fellowship to Christians in the Frankfurt area.
We are located at the Cantate Domino Church in the Nordweststadt. Due to the benevolence of our hosts; the German congregation of the Cantate Domino, we have a good home and maintain with them a good relationship which has successfully matured and developed over time.
Established in 1998 by Rev. Emmanuel Djieagu with approximately fifteen members, over the years our mainly Ghanaian congregation has grown to a membership of a hundred and twenty (including children) seventy of these are regular attendants to our Sunday afternoon services. Since the departure of Rev. Djieagu in 1999, back to Ghana, we had largely been without a constant pastor till November 2016 where Rev. Charles Oduro-Kwarteng was sent by the PCG as our first Resident Minister. His family, that is his wife Martha Otchere-Darko and two children joined him in April 2017.  Within our church we have many groups, the principles being: The Women's Fellowship, the Men's Fellowship, the Young Adults Fellowship (YAF), the Young Peolple’s Guild (YPG), the Junior Youth (JY) and the Children's Service. The pre-mentioned are generational groups. The intergenerational groups are the Church Choir, the Singing Band, the Bible Study and Prayers Group.
Our service is held every Sunday between 14:00 -16:30 Hrs. On Fridays between 18:30 – 20:00 Hrs we have Bible studies and prayer meetings. Choir practice is every Sunday at 13:00 Hrs. before the service.
Previously some of  our annual activities included; The rotational District Conventions (Asempatrew) Joint Revival Services with other Ghanaian Churches in and around Frankfurt, a Christmas festival, Christmas evening prayer vigil, a Carol singing evening where we  invited other churches to join us in Christian unification, joint advent festival with our host German congregation, Frankfurt International Pfingsten festival (Oekumenisches Pfingstfest), Church day (Kirchen tag), summer picnic and grill and participation in the Harvest of fellow Ghanaian congregations outside Frankfurt.
We are a small church with a big heart. Despite our somewhat small stature we believe it is important to cultivate a relationship with and contribute in many ways to the wellbeing of not just our church but also the wider Christian society. In previous times this has included visiting and supporting asylum seekers in Germany. The international convent is a grouping of international churches in Frankfurt; it's aim is to help and promote Christian fellowship and to assist foreigners in their integration into the wider German society. We have been a member of the convent since it's inception in the year 1999. We are involved with the Presbyterian Church of Ghana via the Germany District and lately the Europe Presbytery. We are also members of the Northern Ghana Partnership. A project between German and Ghanaian congregations i.e Salaga, Wa and Damongo. We make our community a better place by being role models for our culture and church. As Mother Congregation of the Preaching Posts in Wiesbaden and Freiburg we were also co-founders of the Post in Mannheim. The  lay members of our church continue to play a major role in the preaching services. Before the arrival of our Resident Minister Rev. Charles Oduro-Kwarteng, we were well taken care of  by the Reverends Ernest Ayeh Hansson, Benjamin Asare Larbi,  Peter Kofi Nyarko and  Elizabeth Aduama during her Service in Landau /Pfalz, We also enjoyed the pastoral care of Rev. Dr. Komi Hiagbe  a Minister of the EP Church who was on studies here  in Frankfurt. They were followed by Rev. Ebenezer Kofi Decker, Revs. Michael Otu, Joseph William Acheampong and Rev. Roger Wegurih. After Rev. Michael Otu the then District Minister’s return to Ghana, he was succeeded by Rev. Frederick B. Boahene as the District Minister. The reverends Benjamin Appiah from Hamburg and Esther Oye Asabir (Berlin) have also been of great help.  Through the exchange programs with the Northern Ghana Partnership, we were visited by  many Ministers. Some were Rev. Dr. Nabor, Rev. Martin Addai Naami, who use to be the Minister of the Ecumenical Church in Frankfurt. In September 2020, our Resident Minister Rev. Charles Oduro- Kwarteng after four years ended his appointment in Frankfurt-Main and with his family returned to Ghana.

Other Prominent PCG Officials who have visited us are: Very Rev. Dr. Sam Prempeh, Very Rev. Yaw Frimpong Manso, Rev. Herbert Opong-Anim.  Rev. Dr. Djan Duah, Rev. Dr. Samuel Ayete-Nyampong, Catechist Dr. Abboa-Offei. Rev. Yaw Danso. The Right Rev. Prof. Martey, Rev. Dr. Amfo Akonor, Rev. Solomon Sule-Saa, Rev. Nii Armarh Ashitey and many others.

In the year  2005 the Frankfurt Congregation was elevated by Rev. Dr. Djan Duah, the then Clerk of the General Assembly. This grand occasion was supported by Rev. Peter Kofi Nyarko.  On the 21. 04.2008 the congregation received its officially registered status. We celebrated our 20th Anniversary in October 2018. The Lord has been so good to us and we thank him for his endless love and blessings.
